Christmas Tour Beginnings

"Becoming a mother makes you the mother of all children...You long to comfort all who are desolate."
-Charlotte Gray

It sounds crazy, but this Christmas Home Tour idea probably started when we first became mothers and instinctively felt the need to nest and nourish our babies. As six mothers combined, we have nested and nourished more than 30 children (and sometimes their friends). As we look forward to Christmas---the time when another mother felt these same pangs toward her newborn son in a lowly Bethlehem stable---it only seems fitting that we tap into these two mothering instincts to celebrate our Savior's birth.

The nesting part is easy. Admittedly, is not just an instinct for us---it is an obsession. If there is a space, we will fill it. If there is a wall, we will paint it. If there is a pillow, we will fluff it. Garnish these tendencies with some holiday inspiration and you have enough lights to signal space, enough wreaths to cover Noah's ark, and enough penguins and snowmen to populate a small country. And we couldn't be more thrilled!

Ironically, however, is is the "nourishing" part of this project that is the most beautiful. When we heard about Mothers Without Borders and their efforts to provide formula for mothers in Zambia, Africa who couldn't afford to feed their newborns, we knew we had to be a part of it.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this Christmas season during our Deck the Halls Home Tour on Saturday, December 6th from 5-9 PM. Bring your friends and family and whatever donations you would like to contribute to the milk bank program. We can't wait to host you.
